Oh no!

It was probably only a matter of time but the news we have been dreading dominated the news tonight. Poor Victoria has to go down into hard lockdown for five days, or more if necessary. They think the UK strain of the virus has escaped one of the Melbourne quarantine hotels. How? Health officials seem to think it is the result of a person in quarantine, who had tested positive, using a nebuliser without authorisation! Now it's out in the community and spreading quickly.

7,000 people are estimated to have crossed the border into NSW during the critical time and they all have to get tested and isolate themselves. The likelihood of all of them doing so? I wouldn't put my money on it.

So now we wait and hope that the improbable happens, that is that it doesn't spread across Australia. In the meantime the Australian Open will continue but without spectators.
