House of the Rising Sun
A rude awakening this morning when the bin men turned up earlier than expected. Threw on some clothes and dashed outside, getting the recycling boxes to the kerb with seconds to spare! As I turned to go back in the house, I was greeted by this stunning sunrise. It was only as glorious as this for a few minutes so I was lucky to be able to capture it.
And that seemed to set the tone for the rest of the day. Mrs C had to go for a diabetic retinopathy. No queues, no fuss and the nurse said all seemed ok. Which was good news because last year they thought they’d spotted something. Either they were mistaken, or it’s cleared up of its own accord.
After yesterday’s upset stomach, I was feeling fine this morning. Completed the workout I missed and then - still feeling good - I went for a 5K run. Not the fastest time but, on the plus side, the previously troublesome calf muscle and Achilles’ tendon only started to ache in the last few hundred metres.
More good news after lunch when Mrs C received a text inviting her to book an appointment for her first Covid jab. Duly booked for Sunday morning. As the vaccination centre is next door to Caffè Nero, we’ll be able to get our usual Sunday coffees at the same time! Despite being older than Mrs C - and a bit more diabeticy (I think that’s a word) than her - I’ve not had an invitation yet. We can only assume that the bad chest infections she had in 2019, along with receiving a pneumonia jab this winter, is enough to put her in a higher risk category overall. It’s all good news though and shows the system is working. I’m sure I’ll get the invitation in the not too distant future.
With all those good vibes, it seemed only sensible to buy a ticket for tonight’s Lotto Euromillions draw. I’ve already started planning how to spend the €148M.....
