Now fire

The strong wind continues form the east as does the cold dry air.
Having had a fire going out of control yesterday on Benbecula just to the south of us, some clever spark (ho ho) thought it would be a good idea to do some muirburning (i.e. kill everything in the area) at the back of Eaval, the mountain just to our north.
Unfortunately a little fire at the back ended up burning what looks like most of the back of the hill and it then started coming back along the front. The ridge of the mountain you can see here is 5km away. Even so I was glad to have a stretch of sea between us and the flames.
Fire and ice and lots of Norse place names - we are becoming more and more like Iceland.
