Short-eared owl
A short-eared owl day is always a good day. Over the last two years, several have been sattelite tagged and we are beginning to leave quite how much they move around.
One individual bred in Scotland early in the summer then flew to Norway and probably bred there in the same summer before returning to Scotland then Ireland and then sadly drowning on the way back to Norway, all in eighteen months. Another one swanned, or should I say owled, off to Morocco for the winter. More details can be found here.
