Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus!
Happy Saint David's Day in English. It's not until March 1st, so I'm a little early.
Cynthia couldn't find any daffodils today -- I'll try again tomorrow.
In the US, Saint Patrick's Day is widely celebrated, but very few people know about Saint David, the patron saint of Wales. That may be due to the smaller number of immigrants from Wales, or perhaps because the Irish celebrate more boisterously. As for the English -- most of them don't even know the date of their saint's day, or even his name.
When I came to work for the airplane manufacturer then headquartered in Washington state, my first supervisor was of Welsh descent. I started a tradition of a Saint David's Day celebration group lunch. We kept that going for many years.
Thanks to my sister, welshmaid50, for the card -- it's the first Saint David's Day card I've seen.
