The Voyage of the Narwhal

I don't read much fiction and I seldom read the same book twice but the Voyage of the Narwhal is an exception. Its the fictional account of an 1885 expedition to the Arctic in search of (the real) Sir John Franklin whose expedition in search of the Northwest passage had disappeared years earlier. Compelling. I've never come anywhere near this kind of isolation but I suppose had a tiny glimpse of it in an early winter south-north trek across Iceland thirty years ago.
