St Monans Windmill
It looks like a summer’s day. It isn’t of course, but so much milder than last few days.
This windmill is the last remaining one in Fife. It was used to pump seawater into the salt pans which were housed in nine buildings on the raised beach below the windmill.
Salt was once Scotland’s third most important export after wool and fish.
We walked along to St Monans this afternoon and had a wander round the village and the harbour. It was much busier than of late but probably due to the sunshine and rise in temperature. Then home again for a cup of cocoa. By that time the sun was beaming into the sitting room so I lay on the sofa and soaked up the heat for an hour.
I slept really badly last night but I’ve no idea what was wrong. Was still awake at 4.30. So hoping tonight is better.
