Tiger paints his shop (what else)

We've had a lovely quiet, slow day. Market this morning, about 2 hours later than the normal trip (partly because of the rain, but not really, if I'm honest). Flowers and doughnuts purchased at the market (no cheese man there, sadly).  The eldest bought the husband some flowers for his office using pocket money - this warranted a sweet from the flower stall owner - it's not hard to elicit sweets from them it has to be said!

An afternoon of more playing, including finding some face-paint crayons which were far more of a success than I imagined.  The eldest is intent on setting up a shop, so painted a cardboard box ready to set it up tomorrow to sell his wares (from the wholesaler, which is my kitchen cupboard).

The disaster of the day was taking the dog for a walk and leaving the boys at home, only to return and find them both desperately cleaning the carpet.  They had decided to facepaint their feet and the husband had been aware that something was going on, but was stuck on a conference call and couldn't work out what was happening. Words were had about whether paint and feet really went together, but given the rather amazing clean-up job that went on it all ended pretty well.  Aside from regretting the decision to leave the boys at home, as that was clearly a bit of a parenting fail.

Today I'm grateful for:
The thoughtfulness of the eldest buying flowers for the husband
The boys cleaning up the mess they had created really quite well and realising they had made a mistake
Lovely chat with the youngest after bed time and him telling me he is happy I'm home (I only went to London for an afternoon!)
