Despair revisited..
I blipped this image near the Triangle, Clifton, on 30 December last year with little information other than how it made us feel. Sad, very sad.
Today I took it from a different angle and was informed by a man in a van who told us it just appeared overnight and coincided with World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10th. last year. The day is supported by the Samaritans in the UK.
The statistics show the UK has around 7000 suicides every year,
Am I right to presume Covid Year 2020 is likely to show an increase on that sad number?
Anyway it managed to make us as sad on this viewing as it did the last.
The extra shows a rear view of the statue and the Bear’s hand on the shoulder of the potential victim.
Who said there's no place for statues in Modern Britain?
