On my way home from the office the bus paused at the stop outside Edinburgh Academy for slightly more than the usual ten seconds, due to a passenger having to hunt about for her bus pass; long enough for me to get the camera out and blip this glimpse of the very imposing front door.

Above the door it says:
ACADEMIA EDINENSIS JUVENTUTIS STUDIIS SACRATA. A.D. MDCCCXXIV
Then it says something in Greek, probably the same thing. All very imposing. I didn't realise before I read the Wikipedia entry that previous pupils included the amazing James Clerk Maxell.
