Brentford

L3 Day 64 cycled via Kew to Brentford and had a meander around The Butts area and then back via Syon Park. Nice and quiet on the roads compared to cyclists going via Hampton Court to the Surrey Hills! A pub, now called The Wier but previously the White Horse,( See extra) was the home of J.M.W Turner (1775-1851) when he lived here with his uncle from 1785-1787 while his mother was ill. During this time he first showed a talent for painting aged 10. On returning to live with his father he was accepted at the Royal Academy School when he was 13. There are still many well preserved houses in the Butts built in the 18C.
