Neighborhood visitor
A female Cooper's Hawk sat in a willow at the back of a neighbor's yard(which is why it is fairly heavily cropped) for the longest time this AM. And surprisingly it didn't head to any of the local feeders to check out who might be there for breakfast. Cooper's hawks feed primarily on smaller birds. Which is distressing sometimes , but it is where their niche evolved. Watching them whip through the branches of trees at high speed is awe inspiring.
We took the skis over to Cole Park again and did the loop of trails , though a little shorter this time . We cut across the lake a it since it was frozen this time. The snow was getting sticky so it was not as much fun as gliding across frozen Cayuga last week. Still , a good work out and nice to get out of the house in sunshine of all things.
