Here we go again – Day 49
Another beautiful day so off we went on a big long walk. We didn't really have a plan of where we were going but because I hadn't had much run about time yesterday, today Ann promised me lots.
Walked all the way through the Hermitage of Braid, came out at the bottom of Liberton and walked through Inch Park and into the grounds of Craigmillar Castle. From there I walked on my lead to Figgate Park, where there were a lot of squirrels that needed chasing. Back on my lead for a walk down to Portobello where I walked all the way along the beach to Seafield.
By this point Ann had a plan for the rest of our walk. We were going to walk home via Lochend Park, Holyrood Park, the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links. That would have been loads of run about time for me. Mmmmmm........... best laid plans and all that. By this time Ann's feet were getting really sore. By the time we reached Meadowbank we'd walked 9.37 miles and had been walking for more than 3 hours. And a no. 5 bus was due in 6 mins so Ann said, 'Trixie, lets go home.' So that is what we did.
I am such a good girl when I go on buses. I immediately just lie down in good dog mode. Today a girl got on the bus and complimented Ann on how well behaved I was and then do you know what happened?............................ she produced all these really yummy home-made doggie treats out of her pocket and asked Ann if she could give them to me. Apparently she'd been walking a dog for a friend (who had Covid and was self-isolating) and he hadn't eaten all the treats (the dog, not the friend). They were yummy! …............And then Ann went into panic mode because the girl had been stroking me and she'd obviously been in contact with her friend who had Covid and she'd given Ann a biscuit to give me later and Ann had put it into her pocket. Well, you don't think do you? Ann immediately fed me the biscuit and then hand sanitized her hands!!! And gave them a thorough wash when we got home.
….............And now we're just about to watch the news to see what Boris has to say in his 'exit out of lock-down speech', though if the rumours are to be believed, hospitality won't be opened up in time for Easter. Mmmmmm....................... doesn't look like I'll be running around on the St Ives beaches any time soon then??!!! Doesn't look like Ann will be able to afford to buy me many treats either??!!
Oh well, ho hum............................ not much else to do but go on long walks............ that suits me!!!
