The Phoenix Rises

Saying goodbye

Today we said goodbye to Mum.
Apart from being a fabulous mother, Granny and Great granny she had a huge intellect, a quiet and clever wit, a gentle and compassionate nature, a well loved GP, a crossword  puzzler extraordinaire, an enthusiastic  ornithologist who loved the West coast of Scotland and was a voracious reader.
Her family and friends were spread around the world and if the Pandemic  had not happened, even at 91 , her funeral  would have been packed, but with only 20 allowed at the funeral, there were concerns  that without a celebrant, it would be a very empty and quiet affair. We should not have given that a second thought. We all chose our own music and who ever wanted to say something  got the chance to do just that. The time flew so fast that being the last to speak I worried that I would have no time left. I had my say and my choice of music tipped me over the edge for a minute, but that's what it's for, letting go. Well I reckon it is. I felt better anyway, but absolutely  shattered.

We were ushered outside  and there after we parted.
Later in the year there will be a huge gathering, but until then we sit at home wanting a lot more.

With love
