Log Truck done for Rifle CO
Today I finished up the log truck scene at the lumber mill. It was from a GHQ kit. Really a neat little kit with wonderful detail. The blip does not really show the minute detail, but it made it more fun to build - if a bit fiddley. OK - the TINY turn signals that were to go on the cab were so small I could not see or find them after cutting them off the sprue. Whoops. The driver will have to use his hands old-school. The dozer provides a power winch to raise and lower the A Frame as well as controls the log grabbers. There are no n scale models of the log grabbers so I looked at photos and made mine out of very thin brass rod. Glad I did it - won't be doing it again.
Now - finally - off to make aspen trees for the foreground. I will be using the "weeds" from Scenic Express and the finest flock I've got. Maybe with a tinge of yellow at the top as it is fall. Never did this before so should be interesting. Looks easy - we will see. I need to make a bunch.
