Salla Day 4
We made a trip to Kiutaköngäs Rapids located in Oulanka National Park. The Kiutakangas Rapids are about 200 metres long, and the drop is 12 metres. The name Kiutaköngäs originates from the Sami language and means large rapids flowing through gorge-like valley. Red colour of Kiutaköngäs cliffs is result of the rusting of iron compounds in the limestone.
In the afternoon quite thick fog covered landscape. Weather is getting warmer.
