Life through the lens...

By ValC

Thank you Kirklees Council.

On a beautiful sunny morning, we have had a lovely walk. One of our alternative lockdown walks to a nearby village.
It was nice to see an old neighbour that had moved years ago. She was out with her daughter and granddaughter, and we stopped for a long chat.

Back to our village and the crocuses were beginning to open. They were planted years ago, along the grass verges, by Kirklees Council. Really do brighten up the village in Spring. A little further along and I noticed a newly planted tree. We have passed a few of these lately, all flowering cherry trees. Once again planted by the Council.

The variety of this one is “ Prunus Umineko “.
A white flowering upright cherry.
Cross between Oshima cherry and Fuji cherry raised by Collingwood Ingram in the 1920’s.
The leaves turn beautifully orange to purple red in autumn.
Will also provide a few future blip.
