Just fishin’
A lazy northerly wind that cuts straight through you rather than going around! I think that was a remark made in one of the original series of All Creatures Great and Small.
It was certainly a lazy wind today, even in the bright sunshine. I was at the allotment repairing our shed that was damaged by vandals some weeks ago. I had to replace one of the door planks that had been smashed as they attempted to get into steal my marrows.
Like all DIY repairs it wasn’t straightforward as the door planks were different sizes and had varying degrees of damage. A repair was effected in true Heath Robinson fashion and painted. I also cleared out the shed, swept it and tidied up ready for the new season.
Susan was up at her mum’s this morning to be there when the physiotherapist came and was back up again this evening to cook Doreen’s dinner, do the shopping list and a spot of cleaning as well as spending time sitting and talking.
We managed to squeeze in a walk along the well worn and over familiar paths around Bearsted. It was down at Mallards Lake that we saw today’s blip. Which brought to mind this quote: “The gods do not deduct from man’s allotted span the hours spent in fishing”
He’s obviously more interested in his phone than his floats.
