Tattie Krø

A fairly cloudy day, breezy too, but dry.  Some light drizzle showers this evening.

I've been working in the museum all day.  Headed down to mam's at lunchtime, and we had a brisk walk.  Some walkies this evening with Sammy, but mostly feet up by the fire.

Our lunchtime walk took us up the road from mam's, and we headed to the old Grey Stanes, which are quartz erratics, left over from the last ice age.  I have been here many times, but this was the first time noticing the small built structure below, which I would imagine has once been a tattie krø.  After the harvest, tatties would be placed inside, and then covered by a hay dess (stack) or corn skru, to help protect from the frost.  Taken at the Grey Stanes o Greenmow, Cunningsburgh.
