Da Lee

A breezy day, mostly cloudy, some sunny spells.  Some light showers this evening.

Up early, and due to no oil, I headed to Madeline's for a shower.  The simple things in life you take for granted.  Met friend Julie for walkies with the dogs, and then mam and Elise for a walk and a picnic.  A quiet evening at home, some more walkies and now feet up by the fire.

We continued our family history research from Friday, and discovered the Lee.  My 5x great granddad Alexander Sutherland was born here 27th July 1799, eldest of ten bairns to Elizabeth Helen Pearson (Betty) and Sheward George Sutherland.  He married my 5x great granny Janet Thomason on 19th Jan 1819, and their first born child, Janet Humphray Sutherland was born here 10th Sept 1819.  They had five children, third born was my 4x great granny Lilias Sutherland, born 3rd Feb 1825 at Lochend, near Leveneep.  Sadly Janet died young at 36, but Alexander went on to marry two more times.  Janet Gray second wife, four more children, but she died young.  Third wife Catherine Clark, three more children, and she lived a long life.  Alexander died 10th Dec 1883 at Lochend, aged 84.  I also discovered his granddad, also named Alexander Sutherland, my 7x great granddad, born about 1720, died here 6th Feb 1812, aged 92.  My niece Elise (pictured) is double related to the house, with her dad's Rendall family also being a part of our story about the same time.  Elise was delighted to learn this family history lesson, and hopefully get her hooked for the future.  Taken at the Lee, Lunna Ness, Lunnasting.
