Pomegranate Flower - Palma Sola Botanical Park
The Palma Sola Botanical Park had their March plant sale and open house today. We walked around and bought some wonderful plants and herbs. I found a dwarf mulberry tree that bears fruit most of the year and some great and unusual herbs, some ivy and miscellaneous delights. The we walked through the Rare Fruit Council's orchards where the have many rare fruit, nut and the very unsual species from many locations of the world. The blip today is of a pomegranate flower from the pomegranate tree. The tree had both flowers and fruit at the same time, though the pomegranates were not quite ready to pick yet. The flower is brilliant flame orange color; most interesting and pretty! These trees have added so much to the gardens and it is achance to see many trees a lot of people have never seen. It is a wonderful gift to the Park and the people of Manatee County. The Rare Fruit Council puts on shows where they sell many of these trees to people to give them a chance to grow these special trees! What a good thing they do the share this resource and much valuable information!
