Signs Of Spring 3
It was a grey, wet, cold day today, and it was very tempting not to go out. But out I went late afternoon. I needed a few food items and I did a big loop around several parts of the village before finally ending up Waitrose. I found these flowers not far from home, in a grass-lined alleyway near the station. I think it’s the same spot where I found my first ‘Signs Of Spring’ blip on Feb 20th. I love the tiny rain droplets.
More admin jobs today, as well as a very welcome nap! A grey day is always a good day for a nap! Today’s skiing from the World Championships was full of drama. It was the Ladies Relay - 4x 5km. Sweden’s team, along with Norway’s team were considered the two most likely to get the gold. But cross country skiing is dependant on the right amount of wax, based on the snow conditions. If the technicians get that wrong, the best skiers can have a really bad day. And it seemed that there was a wax debacle for the Swedish team today. They were SO far behind, it was heartbreaking. Norway got the gold with Russia and Finland claiming the silver and bronze. The US team missed out on a medal by 0.8 of a second after being ahead of the Finnish team for most of the last leg of the race. More heartbreak! It would have been the first time that a non-European team would have earned a medal in this race.
Highlights of the race in this short video.
Tomorrow’s race is the men’s Relay - 4x 10km. Can’t wait!
