Coot Convention

I love these little fellows.   The American Coot (Fulica americana).  My bird book says they "often form large rafts" and I think that's just what they were doing here.  There were at least twice as many more that I couldn't get in camera range.  For some reason, they just strike me funny.  I love the description and picture of their feet (See Extra).  They have "long lobed toes" according to my bird book.
First, the whole group swam downstream, then they turned around and all swam upstream.  It looked as though they were playing some sort of game.  Such fun to watch.
