The Central West

We meandered our way home today via some backroads we don't usually take.
It was very interesting to see the contrast between the still traditional rural towns and those which have recently become trendy, particularly with people touring domestically because of Covid.
Gulgong and Rylstone are pretty towns but packed with cars and visitors.
7km away at Kandos (pictured) it was almost deserted.

Earlier we stopped at the village of Mendooran (pop 300) for morning tea (a very nice vanilla slice so big we shared and surprisingly good cappuccino).
There I found several more businesses (extra) which still seem to occupy their original buildings, like the bank I blipped on Friday.
The top one is a mechanic (offering only diesel fuel!)
Middle is the Post Office (NOT a coffee shop!!)
I'm not sure the Mechanics Institute still exists but it appears it is a functional hall.
