A trio of scarlet elf caps

This morning I went to to Oswestry's independent art shop to collect some materials that I'd ordered by click and collect.  I was in my mask but they recognised me and gave me my goods without having to even give my name.  One of the benefits of shopping in small shops in a small town!

Afterwards, F and I went for a walk in the Llanforda Estate which is walking distance from his house.  There were lots of Scarlet Elf Caps around on the rotting wood and amongst the leaf litter.  Many were past their best as it's getting to the end of their fruiting season.  They are edible but apparently have very little flavour so not worth cooking them.

On the way back a car stopped and it was a couple of friends of ours just about to start their walk in the same place.  It was good to have a chat to them after such a long time.
