inspired by stained glass
We visited St James' church in Stavely today and discovered that one of the windows was designed by Sir Edward Burne-Jones and made by William Morris and Company. A detail of one of the angels was featured on the second class Christmas stamp in 2009.
Being very naive about the styles, ages and qualities of stained glass, I chose this one to photograph, enjoying the detailed patterns, vivid colours and subtle drapes of the clothing. I could find no reference to the artist.
I then looked at the east window; ' one of the most magnificent Morris & Co windows imaginable'. It was pretty impressive, but too high up to get a good blip with my camera.
So much for my discerning eye!
