Woke to the sound of......no rain! Decided that I had a couple of hours up my sleeve so I'd head back to Zealandia for another look. One of the great things about Zealandia is that your ticket gives you entrance to not just one day, but two (consecutive) days. A bit of a no-brainer really. Txtd J who decided to join me and we again spent some time hunting out 'the' shot. Sadly, not nearly as good as yesterday, reminding us both just how special yesterday was. It drizzled a bit, a few workmen/repairmen (the Lesser Spotted Hardhat Hivizus) made a bit of noise so we adjourned once again to the cafe.
Ferry was delayed and I was eventually underway back across the Cook Strait at around 2.40. Added to the bird species count when someone pointed out an albatross gliding across the water half way across the Strait (extra). Arriving at Picton around 5.30 made the decision NOT to drive back to Nelson tonight easy - a night at Rarangi is always pleasant.
