"How Now Brown Cow?"

Dear Diary,

That is exactly what sprung to mind when I saw this lovely young lad.  My grandpa use to say that to me when I was little.  It was used in elocution lessons at the time to help children pronounce the rounded O sounds but I think he just said it as a term of endearment since I was always so tanned in the summer.  Talking and walking like a "lady" was important.  I spent lots of time walking around with a book on my head to improve my posture but grandpa believed all children, even little girls, should dig in the dirt and climb trees.  I did both.  Here's another of grandpa's favorite phrases, "If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?"
