Saturday: The Prairies

You’d be right if you were thinking this didn’t look much like British Columbia.  K. and I are on a rare trip as I’ve had to come to Medicine Hat, Alberta, for work-related reasons.  And believe me when I say that Medicine Hat, while quaint, doesn’t have many reasons for visiting if not for work.  We flew to Calgary this morning, and from there it was a 2 1/2 drive across the prairies, with a brief stop for lunch in the small town of Bassano (catchphrase: The Best In The West By A Damsite).

The trip is being made against a sad backdrop though so adventure isn’t very much on my mind.  My Uncle David, who was a really good friend as well as an uncle, passed away this morning at the age of 62, having been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer four months ago.  So it’s a very sad day.
