Call me when you grow up a bit...

Walking through Smithfield Market I was struck by the clashing colours and the different sized phone boxes.

I have since looked them up (as I was interested in why they were different sizes) and they are in fact Grade 2 listed telephone kiosks designed by architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, he also worked on Liverpool Cathedral, Waterloo Bridge and Battersea Power Station.

The one on the left is a K2 and on the right a K6 model. The K6 was designed to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George V in 1935 and the K2 was introduced in 1926.

The meat market was designed in 1868 by Sir Horace Jones who also designed Billingsgate and Leadenhall markets.
