Notarious

Originally offices of the now disappeared Banco Urquijo, swallowed up by another bank. Having lain dormant for years it has been refurbished for use as shared office accommodation.

Prior to the refurbishment it housed the offices of a notary public. It was here that we signed the papers to buy our apartment about 18 years ago.

In 1980 the Marquesses of Urquijo, owners of the bank, were murdered as they slept at their home in Madrid. One of Spain's most notorious murders.
