Today's the day ........................ for a fish supper

Lots of mute swans today on Carlingwark Loch (see extra), just to the south of Castle Douglas.  There was lots of activity going on - nest building and general dabbling with backsides in the air, as they foraged in the weeds for tonight's tea. 

That's what we were doing too in Castle Douglas (well, minus the 'backsides in the air' bit).  By far and away the best fish and chip shop in this part of the country is to be found there.  They have a very good covid-safe way of operating.  Once you've given and paid for your order through a hatch in the window, they give you a little bleeper thing (see extra).  You go and sit in the car, the bleeper goes off when everything's ready and you go and pick it up.

And you really do have to eat them right away when they are at their most delicious ....................!
