Dad’s funeral
Glorious sunshine today as we laid Dad to rest with a full RC requiem mass at the church we’d all attended as children. Only 30 mourners , no hymns but it still felt special with the church full of flowers and all of us giving reminiscences. . S made the coffin spray with flowers from all our gardens and nephew T painted these little butterflies to hover above them. This is the orange tip that he gave me for eldest grandson B who couldn’t be there because he and his partner were waiting for the arrival of their baby. Dad was buried in the village church in Hambledon where they live and the locals lined the street when the hearse arrived. Because of Covid and no wake we all hung around in the sunshine talking while the gravediggers waited to fill in the grave. It was actually rather moving and natural.
