A walk on the marsh at Burgh by Sands this afternoon.  I've only ever been on this section of the marsh twice!  My neighbours have been coming here with their dog and said Misty would like it!  I also wanted to see the monument which apparently marks the spot where Edward 1 died on 7th July 1307. 

From the web .....  "In the winter of 1306 while attempting to quell another uprising, he became ill and rested at Lanercost Priory near Carlisle for several months.  He died of dysentery on Burgh Marsh within sight of the shores of Scotland which had plagued him for so long.  He had camped on the marsh in a place where his army could cross to Scotland at low tide."   

Just as we started our walk the sky turned black and hailstones fell from the sky!  Nowhere to shelter.  Poor Misty's was covered in them, she wasn't happy.  Yikes!
