Independence Day
Incredibly important national celebration in Greece today, marking 200 years of independence following 400 years of Turkish Occupation. Sadly none of the usual festivities and events were allowed because of lockdown, only a small military parade went ahead in Athens, but no public allowed, only a few dignitaries, including, oddly, Prince Charles and Camilla all the way from the UK. It has not gone down at all well here that we're all locked up in our homes since November and not allowed to attend or participate in anything, nor even travel anywhere within Greece, and these two fly in from abroad for a nice dinner and a bit of tourism.
Truly winter again today, we had SNOW all morning. It didn't really settle except on the mountains., so in the afternoon I had a short local walk and found masses of this wild lavender in flower.
Managed to link up with Mum on Zoom later. She seemed ok but not enjoying quarantine.
