I Can’t Stand the Rain
We’ve had fairly torrential rain for over twelve hours now, and it’s showing no signs of easing off any time soon.
Went out on an errand with Mrs C and noticed the river was getting close to coming over the banks. Fortunately, that was at the bottom end of town where there is a sloping grass bank to accommodate any overflow. In the town centre the river was still quite a way off going over, so let’s hope it stays that way.
Because I was getting bored waiting for Mrs C, I switched off the windscreen wipers and started taking photos. As it only took a couple of minutes for the windscreen to get to the state you can see in the photo, it proves what a useful invention wipers are!
We did go for our usual Sunday coffee but it wasn’t the most pleasurable experience sipping a hot drink whilst trying to dodge the wind and rain. Didn’t help either that my body clock said “coffee time” but my watch said “lunch time”.
Time now to go incommunicado for a few hours. It’s the first Grand Prix of the season, but because I won’t pay the ransom demanded by Sky to watch it live, I have to wait for the highlights show on Channel 4. But I also have to avoid any broadcast news and all forms of social media in the interim, so as not to see/hear any spoilers about the result.
The weather is forecast to get better next week. I’m hoping that’s correct because I’ve got a 10K run to fit in before the end of the month, and I’d like to be able get the motorbike out from its winter hibernation...
