Rain Delay

We have had some torrential rains today - quite a contrast to yesterday's beautiful weather.  Still, I managed to get out to the hide for s short while and caught this rather bedraggled looking dark-eyed junco showing his dark back.  There are 5 or 6 distinct color variants within the dark eyed junco species although the only one we get here on the east coast is the "slate colored" varient.  The name is pretty self explanatory.

Had a nice long chat with parents this morning - all is well in Portland and they've got one more week to wait until they are considered "fully vaccinated."  That will be a very happy day for all of us.

The rain has my sinuses in an uproar so I ended up napping this afternoon as a way to escape the headache.  It worked and the cats were very happy to snuggle in with me.
