Our Tidal Basin

First, let me tell you my son-in-law just got word that my daughter is doing well and is finally in the recovery room. It is 5:00 pm; her surgery lasted about 3.5 hours but the best news so far is that they were able to do it laparoscopically. Praise God. For those of you who have been to Washington, DC this time of year, I am sure you have seen the magnificently breathtaking cherry trees. When First Lady Taft and the Viscountess Chinda planted those cherry trees in January 1910, they were only a small part of a gift of 3,000 trees given to the U.S. by the Japanese government. The trees were planted along the Potomac Tidal Basin near the Jefferson Memorial, in East Potomac Park, and on the White House grounds. We have 16 of these kind of cherry trees at the front edge of our neighborhood. Usually, rain and/or wind blow the blossoms off the trees way too quickly. After making sure Mack and Chase got up and ready for school on time, I shared the couch with another grand dog. I think Cinnamon has some mastiff blood but she is a much smaller dog. She frightens most folks but loves her Gram. We spent a lot of time together when she was a pup. I have a great photo of her that I took this morning but it did not edge out our cherry trees. Skylar and I went grocery shopping and then out to lunch. It is so nice to be able to eat in restaurants again. We stopped at my house and I took several photos of the trees. Then I let her drive around the neighborhood and on two main two-lane roads. Just not comfortable allowing her to drive on the roads with heavy traffic yet. We are waiting for her Dad, sister and brother to arrive so we can have dinner. In our state, the public schools have spring break the week before Easter and the private schools are off the week after. Other holidays don’t always match up either. It makes planning family events really hard. Hubby finished the garden area today. He also fertilized and aerated our lawn. He has Trek duty today. Spring is a really busy time but after being cooped up, being outside is a wonderful experience. There is so much beauty to experience in Spring. Try to get out and soak it in. Thanks for your visits and kind comments.
