Advice from trees

The trees know it.
They shout at me silently
every time I walk past them.
Hundreds of mute voices every day.
And what they say is:
Stop!

Stop hurting yourself with temptation
Stop blotting yourself out in order to be liked
Stop thinking that vitality is shameful
Stop pretending no one you know is selfish
Stop being selfless - it leads to ambivalence
Stop being somewhere else in your head
Stop believing mundane conversations can't sometimes be beautiful
Stop swallowing your opinions
Stop understanding everyone
Stop thinking that the only people worth loving are those who don't love you
Just stop.

And yesterday
six alders standing on a sunny patch of paradise said:
Start enjoying it.
