I rocked the mic. Oh yes, I did!

There's a café in Newcastle called the Settle Down Café and it holds writers' workshops. The woman who runs these is the same person who ran the workshop I went to back in October, who was also at the launch of Material magazine. Last week she asked me if I would like to read a couple of poems at the cafe's first birthday party, as part of a "speedy mic" night.

Well, dear blipper, I did.

I read two poems and people whooped. Which was very exhilarating. And on the way home, I felt really, really proud of myself. For going there tonight on my own, for doing something that really matters to me and for being able to say "I write".

Life can be so difficult but I continue to wonder at it.
