Totterdown mosque

A beautiful morning - my walk took me past the local mosque. Five years ago four people threw bacon at the door, shouted abuse at the elderly worshippers leaving a service, tied a St George’s flag to the fence, and put up a notice saying ‘No Mosques’. In the following week most local people sent messages to the mosque online, support cards were signed in local pubs, and flowers were left outside.  On the next Sunday, the mosque invited local people who don’t worship there to a tea party - with a great welcome, wonderful food, information sessions and guided tours.  Six hundred people turned up, and it was altogether a great occasion.
