Easter Lamb ..... with protection

My Seattle sister has been making my Mom's lamb cake for many years.
This year has some new protection, haha.

I sent this picture to friends with Easter blessings. And they were curious.....
Q: how did she shape the head ?
A: it’s part of a mold.
Q: where can I get one?
A: Probably best-found -at a 2nd hand Thrift Store because it’s very old. (Google search turned up many very pricey items - not good.). Tip: be sure to heavily Crisco-grease AND flour (no shortcuts) to prevent sticking in all the nooks and crannies !
Q: what kind of cake?
A: a very, heavy homemade pound cake with butter cream icing and coconut ‘fur’
TIP #2: how to avoid the head from breaking off ..... BEFORE BAKING - Place one toothpick in each ear and a bamboo style skewer in the neck. The skewer should be abt 1” from the top of the head and extend into the body. Poke them down slightly into the batter so they are covered.
Q & A: Hope you had a wonderful Easter ! (and don’t forget the green-tinted coconut for her grassy bed.)
