Weston Green

L3 day 111. A cycle ride with a friend to revisit 15 blue plaques that I discovered during lockdown 1 last summer, put up by the local associations rather than English Heritage, in Thames Ditton and Esher...plus a new one for Lord Scarman!
We went via Thames Ditton .....Across Weston Green and to Esher. The blip is the sign on Weston Green which I have passed so many times when driving by. It depicts the church which is very nearby but not easily visible form the main road. We also went to the Claremont area to the site of a house where George Harrison lived in the 1960’s which would have been a good retreat away from central London when he first became so successful. It has since been rebuilt and usually you cannot see the new house but today the gates were open! It is appropriately called High Walls as it has does have very high walls surrounding the site! We also located the blue plaque for Lord Scarman (1911-2004) which I had not visited previously. Lord Scarman is often remembered for chairing the Public Enquiry into the Brixton Race Riots in 1981.
