Drake Pintail

In Deerness, I walked along the shore to the Point of Ayre and passed a flood pool which was empty. On the way back it had acquired some teal and a pair of pintail. I went onto the shore, below the ban , so was able to get past without flushing them. i saw 5 or 6 wheatears along the shore of Newark Bay including my first female of the year. Offshore were some wigeon and they may have included an American wigeon- still being pondered upon, and also a hybrid American/Eurasian bird. Better birders than I will have to decide. Shelduck and mallard added to the duck total. At Dingieshowe I saw my first terns of the year- a pair of sandwich terns.
