Orange Bridge

The work has started on Bishopton Bridge that spans the Stratford canal.  The hump back bridge has always been a bit of a pain insomuch as it is only wide enough for one car and it is not possible to see if there is any oncoming traffic.  So traffic lights are to be installed and a pedestrian walkway introduced.  At the moment it is closed to traffic but open for pedestrians.  This was just as well as I was halfway round my canalside walk this morning when I reached the bridge and I needed to cross it to head home.

Apparently non-essential shops and hairdressers are open from today.  I shan't be rushing to either anytime soon though I may consider an outside coffee next time I'm in town!
