New coat.....

Another frosty start again today.
Kev on mucking out,Ross on bedding and me on bagging up stoorie sheep and cattle feeding.
The vet at a stirk next door that we have being tubing since Friday as it keeps bloating up. If left untreated the pressure would eventually kill it. The vet fitted a red devil which is a plastic device which screws into the side of the rumen and lets the build up of gas escape. He let Littlemiss screw it into place then stitched it in .
A bit of a disaster after lunch. Yellow tag 50 cow calved down at the burn and obviously deposited it straight into the water. By the time I got there the calf had drowned . Bugger.
So got the dead calf onto the back of the quad bike, made lots of calf type noises and the cow followed us into the steading. Skinned the calf,managed to catch one of the twin calves ( yesterday's blip) and fitted it with a new coat to fool new mum into thinking it's her calf.
Hopefully it will be love at first sight . Will see in the morning if it has sucked or not.
Moved the rest of the cows back to another field to avoid any more drowning mishaps.
