Bombylius major
Not a bee - a parasitic fly (so I found out after a wee bit or research).
I found it not looking particularly well when I was doing some weeding.
It was frosty this morning and it was lying in the shade and covered in moisture.
So I put it it the sun and watched it gradually begin to move. I was about to go and get some sugar water when it tried to take off and ended up on its back, so I got it back on its legs and watched as it practiced using its wings and legs and then off it went.
There are different angles showing its 'horn' (like a Narwhal) over here.
I have also taken some pictures of the (very thirsty) tulips and also one of my dead roses which I had put in a tub of water in the freezer.
It wasn't a very successful attempt at freezing a flower - but I am trying it again.
The pictures are over with the Narwhal.
I have lent 4 lengths of log to a neighbour so that they can have a cook-out & campfire with the kids.
They have a nice evening for it.
