Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
and even a bit of singing en route!
Chris had a busy day in the garden starting with clearing up the mess left by badgers to the rubbish put out for collection today.
Lesson learned, they will be put in the garage and put out early morning in future. Because of the narrow lanes they don’t have wheelie bins as the trucks can’t get up them so they just have to put out bags. Some good came from it as he was helped by one of the neighbours and got advice regarding collections, badgers et al. He seems to already know several by name in two days!
We had a spell of play dough fun before lunch. It’s home made as most of the bought contains wheat, and then after Jude’s nap we set off to climb Solsbury Hill, Chris staying behind on this occasion to continue in the garden. and another neighbour came around with a fresh sourdough loaf. It was gratefully received but we did explain about Eda being coeliac. Such a friendly little community.
It was sunny when we set off and Eda carried her back pack all the way, she’s a star. A cloud had appeared over Bath when we got to the trig point just before 4.00 pm but the sun was back as we sat for some freshments before coming back down. There is a longer circuit apparently (John runs up here) but we did just over 2 miles there and back, the up hill being on the way this time through woodland paths and fields. Below the trig point to the left is a row of trees which is hiding their house just a field beyond them.
A cold but beautiful start to the day saw a balloon on the horizon - extra - taken from Eda’s bedroom just before 8.00am, see if you can spot it.
Jude is really getting into her food and seems to want to feed herself so tonight we’ve been making a few fruit and vegetable purées, which I remember doing for Eda, to put in the freezer.
Better definition in large.
