A view from Jeanneb

Jude the dude!

Yes we are here!

A lovely morning as the cloud quickly burned off today so after breakfast we headed to Ludlow castle. All was quiet on the streets until we turned into the market square. The market was in full swing.

We were a little early so we joined a Good Friday Churches together service in the square just beyond the busy market.
We stayed until they continued their procession with the cross to the Butter cross in the town centre.

The castle is privately owned by the Earl of Powys and the Marches. It was built in the 11th century as a border stronghold and has had many Royal associations.
Of course there were towers to climb. We did two, one very narrow where you were told to establish no one was up there before ascending, as we were about the first people in it wasn’t a problem. We both ended up with wobbly legs so declined climbing the third tower being sensible fir a change even though it was probably the least of the climbs.

It was worth going up to see the views over the River Teme below and the town to the hills beyond. Extra

After a coffee in the Castle House cafe, which we’ve been to before but never had time to go into the castle, we headed for the M5 south. It was with some trepidation, being Good Friday, but we had no problems, turning onto the M4 for Bath we passed queuing traffic going the other way for quite a number of miles, all heading west no doubt for the West Country or Wales. I didn’t envy them.

Arrived here in good time and it was a joy to see our lovely girls.
Sadly both are a bit under par and after helping Eda to make a tent she took my cushion for a pillow and was soon curled up  inside fast asleep!

We had a BBQ on the terrace and it felt really hot in the sun, hats and sunglasses had to come out for the girls and I just had to blip this shot of Jude!

It’s exactly a year since our first visit here, can’t believe how quickly that time has gone. Last years blip was of my first climb up little Solsbury Hill.

Hope you all have a happy Easter weekend.
