NOT a Yowyarlin?
When we were kids we enjoyed digging for Yowyarlins mostly beneath the Park, beech, Hedge. I never learnt whether it was one word or two. For non-Cumbrians and other foreigners "Yowyarlins" are actually -----> "Pignut Scientific name: Conopodium majus"
However, be that as it may.
I was "liggin abed" on night/morning (NOT a clue which) when I clearly imagined a sight almost identical to the photo - BUT - with the "growth" almost hidden and only the tuber in sight. It was so vivid I was sure I'd just drempt it.
However came the dawn; Well anyway the mid a.m. I went out and saw exactly that sight.
Which came first the "dream" or the reality?
BUT!
Where do the Yowyarlins enter the tale? You'd be justified in asking.
Well it befell thusly:-
There are at least two clumps of IS "Chinese", ISN'T an "Artichoke" promising to make a fine showing - SO - I nibbled this one.
ABSOLUTELY identical to my memory of yowyarlins. I'll probably look up "cooking" but they seem small enough to be a salad addition while raw.
